In 2004, Miki Sessler of California Yarn Sales in Huntington Beach, California, asked whether the Army and Navy could use beanie for servicemen and servicewomen. The US Army said they can use 40,000 for Iraq now. US Navy said they would take about 400,000. As of 2008, Project Operation Beanie has collect 44, 000 beanies thanks to your help!

WE NEED KNITTERS AND CROCHETERS!

BEANIE MAKERS PLEDGE

The beanies I make come from my heart.
I will work each stitch with loving thoughts of our soldiers.

The thread I use is stitched to other beanie maker’s hearts. Out of love this mission is joined through our loving hearts.

Knowing all that, my hands move hastily
to make another beanie.
